Microsoft increases prices for Business Central and Dynamics
Microsoft is increasing the prices for Business Central and Microsoft Dynamics 365: Our article summarizes the specific changes, who is affected and what you should do now.
29. August 2024
Who is affected by the Business Central price increase and when does it apply?
If you operate NAV or Business Central on your own hardware in your own network or data center, you will be affected by the price increase. The adjustments apply worldwide to all new and existing customers for the next contract renewal from October 1, 2024.
Important exception: Those who use Business Central in the public cloud (SaaS, Software as a Service) are not affected by the price increases.
What will the price increases look like?
The price adjustments affect two areas:
- Price increase for the ERP Business Central or NAV
- Price increase for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 family (not Business Central) in SaaS operation, for example Sales
Price increase Business Central/NAV from October 2024
The following applies to all customers with a valid on-premises maintenance contract for a Microsoft Dynamics NAV version:
- Microsoft has announced an increase of 19% when extending an existing license. In the past, such price increases were published very late.
- The current 18% maintenance fee for these licenses will be increased to 19%. This increase will take effect with the next renewal of an existing maintenance contract from October 2024.
The following applies to all customers with a valid on-premises maintenance contract for a Dynamics 365 Business Central version:
- Microsoft has announced an increase of 7% when extending an existing license. In the past, such price increases were published very late.
- The current 18% maintenance fee for these licenses will be increased to 19%. This increase will take effect with the next renewal of an existing maintenance contract from October 2024.
Price increase for Microsoft Dynamics 365 SaaS licenses
As part of the price adjustment in autumn 2024, there will also be an increase in Dynamics 365 SaaS licenses. This does not affect the Business Central SaaS product, but other products from the Dynamics 365 family, e.g. Sales. You can view the currently valid prices at any time on the Microsoft overview page.
On-premises licensing: What's next?
For new customers, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will no longer be available for purchase on-premises from April 1, 2025. Why has Microsoft decided to take this step? With this development, Microsoft is taking another big step away from the traditional purchase model towards rental licenses with a cloud focus.
For existing YAVEON customers with a current enhancement (or maintenance) plan, however, it will still be possible to extend licenses by adding users, objects or modules to their existing version, for example.
YAVEON recommends: You should do this now.
With the abolition of purchase licenses for new customers from 2025, Microsoft is now also taking action on the licensing side after many major technical steps towards the cloud.
YAVEON customers will of course be able to continue to use and extend their existing on-premises license. This is guaranteed by an active enhancement (or maintenance) plan.
Nevertheless, you can make the leap to the cloud with the next update. We will be happy to advise you on your individual path to a current Business Central version. The biggest advantages:
- Your solution runs on the secure systems in the Microsoft data centers.
- You benefit from the constant further developments, functional enhancements and innovations from Microsoft.
- You are set up for the future.
Are you planning to purchase new user licenses and extensions for your on-premises license in 2024? Then we recommend that you purchase them at the current price before the deadline of October 3, 2024 if possible. To be on the safe side, please note the lead time of two weeks when ordering. This will ensure prompt processing by us and Microsoft.
